Relief literally means, "to raise" from the Italian word, relievo. Any work in which the figures are projecting from the background, which is usually a plane surface, can be called a relief image. There are three types of relief imagery: Low Relief which is also called basso-relievo, high relief also called alto-relievo, and sunken relief also called incised relief. This type of art form was common on the walls of the ancient world. Today, relief in its modern capacity still holds the same interest and excitement as it did centuries ago. Relief images traditionally served as a stage light for important stories to be told, such as religious, political, historical or common day stories in nature.
This 2-D only exhibition allows students the opportunity to explore and experiment with conceptual art ideas and stretch the boundaries of social questions and purpose.

Nicklaus Children's Hospital: All Creatures Great and SmallDate Closed: 10/10/2024
This is a STEAM Authentic Assessment Exhibition
Did you know that Pablo Picasso had many pets, including a white mouse and a goat, or that Andy Warhol loved his dachshund dogs, or that Salvador Dali liked ocelots and anteaters, and finally, that Georgia O’Keeffe had a passion for chow dogs and Siamese cats? Henri Rousseau is known for painting exotic animals like tigers, snakes and mandrills from his imagination. Other artists like George Stubbs, Franz Marc, Edvard Munch, Gustave Dore, and Leonardo Da Vinci, have also depicted animals as the main subject matter. Artists’ fascination with creatures both great and small, exotic and domestic have always provided them with the inspiration to depict all types of creatures within every type of environment which have helped to transport viewers to other places and times. This exhibition invites students to explore environments and create scenes that showcase animals of all kinds.
Small Works: MODERNISM: Experimentation at its BestDate Closed: 10/10/2024
This is a STEAM Authentic Assessment Exhibition
Modernism blossomed out of the 19th and 20th centuries and was a movement that was transformative in the Western culture and art world. The growth of cities and industrial societies helped to shape the thinking and rejection of old traditional beliefs in art, architecture, literature, religious faith, philosophy etc. Along with this shift emerged artists such as Henri Matisse, Andre Derain, Georges Braque, Raoul Dufy, Maurice de Vlaminck and styles like Fauvism, Divisionism (also known as Neo-Impressionism) and Cubism.
