This is a STEAM Authentic Assessment Exhibition
The Bauhaus movement was one of the most influential modernist movements of the 20th century. The arts and craft trends helped to shape this movement by merging art with industrial design. The Staatliches Bauhaus was known as the Bauhaus and was a German art school operating from 1919-1933 that combined crafts with the fine arts. This school was famous for this approach and produced influential currents in modern design, architecture and art. Artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Josef Albers, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Paul Klee, and Johannes Itten all sought to pave the way for placing crafts on par with fine arts, sculpture and painting.
Students are encouraged to research and explore the geometry and linear qualities of Bauhaus designs and apply them to creating their own 2-D artwork for this exhibition.

Taste of the Tropics: Maps: Aerial Views and Climate Changes (STEAM)Date Open: 8/1/2024 12:00 AM Date Closed: 1/16/2025 12:00 AM This is a STEAM Authentic Assessment Exhibition
Cartographers use maps to provide support for decisions involving environmental studies, geology, engineering, and land-use planning. Some of history’s earliest maps were scratched onto clay tablets in the ancient city of Babylon around 600 B.C. The current world is changing rapidly and more so with events such as pandemics, deforestation, melting poles and ice caps and other natural events that force us to view these changes in the remapping of parts of the globe. NASA has documented ecological changes such as the clearing of the atmosphere due to societal and industrial shutdowns because of pandemics, thereby actually affecting some ecosystems. Volcanic eruptions and hurricanes, while devastating, are equally spectacular events when captured and mapped by satellite imagery. Fifteen artists have used maps to create artworks that are as creative and beautiful as they are ingenious. This 2D and 3D exhibition invites K-12 students to create maps and to go one step further by transforming them into works of arts.

Relief literally means, "to raise" from the Italian word, relievo. Any work in which the figures are projecting from the background, which is usually a plane surface, can be called a relief image. There are three types of relief imagery: Low Relief which is also called basso-relievo, high relief also called alto-relievo, and sunken relief also called incised relief. This type of art form was common on the walls of the ancient world. Today, relief in its modern capacity still holds the same interest and excitement as it did centuries ago. Relief images traditionally served as a stage light for important stories to be told, such as religious, political, historical or common day stories in nature.
This 2-D only exhibition allows students the opportunity to explore and experiment with conceptual art ideas and stretch the boundaries of social questions and purpose.

MIA Gallery: Oh What A Relief It IS! (Entries Due 10/10/24
Nicklaus Children's Hospital: All Creatures Great and SmallDate Closed: 10/10/2024
This is a STEAM Authentic Assessment Exhibition
Did you know that Pablo Picasso had many pets, including a white mouse and a goat, or that Andy Warhol loved his dachshund dogs, or that Salvador Dali liked ocelots and anteaters, and finally, that Georgia O’Keeffe had a passion for chow dogs and Siamese cats? Henri Rousseau is known for painting exotic animals like tigers, snakes and mandrills from his imagination. Other artists like George Stubbs, Franz Marc, Edvard Munch, Gustave Dore, and Leonardo Da Vinci, have also depicted animals as the main subject matter. Artists’ fascination with creatures both great and small, exotic and domestic have always provided them with the inspiration to depict all types of creatures within every type of environment which have helped to transport viewers to other places and times. This exhibition invites students to explore environments and create scenes that showcase animals of all kinds.
Small Works: MODERNISM: Experimentation at its BestDate Closed: 10/10/2024
This is a STEAM Authentic Assessment Exhibition
Modernism blossomed out of the 19th and 20th centuries and was a movement that was transformative in the Western culture and art world. The growth of cities and industrial societies helped to shape the thinking and rejection of old traditional beliefs in art, architecture, literature, religious faith, philosophy etc. Along with this shift emerged artists such as Henri Matisse, Andre Derain, Georges Braque, Raoul Dufy, Maurice de Vlaminck and styles like Fauvism, Divisionism (also known as Neo-Impressionism) and Cubism.
Superintendent's Holiday Card CompetitionDate Closed: 10/10/2024 These designs depict students’ creativity and imagination of the holidays. A select District committee for reproduction and distribution by the Superintendent will choose designs. Special merit designs will be on display at the School Board Administration Building. All designs should be generic in nature and should “NOT” include any thematic, religious, or symbolic imagery representational of Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc. Please refrain from adding text.

Upcoming Exhibits:
MIA Gallery: Oh What A Relief It IS! (Entries Due 10/10/24
